چکیده
The cases of leptospirosis reported by the writer in previous communications (Lahiri, 1941, 1943) as well as those detected subsequently with the aid of laboratory studies all developed jaundice as an important symptom. Since the disease has been described in textbooks under different names, i.e. spirochetal jaundice or infective jaundice (Weil's disease), it is considered that the disease should always be associated with jaundice. It is now an established

Background: Leptospirosis is characterized by very diverse clinical manifestations, which may range from flu-like subclinical forms to very severe presentations characterized by multi-organ failure, or to atypical presentations. One of its most aggressive presentations is Weil’s disease, characterized by jaundice, hemorrhagic phenomena and renal failure. Cases with high bilirubinemia over 30mg/...

Leptospirosis has protean clinical manifestations. The classical presentation of the disease is an acute biphasic febrile illness with or without jaundice. Unusual clinical manifestations may result from involvement of pulmonary, cardiovascular, neural, gastrointestinal, ocular and other systems. Immunological phenomena secondary to antigenic mimicry may also be an important component of many c...
متن کاملPredictors of the development of myocarditis or acute renal failure in patients with leptospirosis: An observational study
BACKGROUND Leptospirosis has a varied clinical presentation with complications like myocarditis and acute renal failure. There are many predictors of severity and mortality including clinical and laboratory parameters. Early detection and treatment can reduce complications. Therefore recognizing the early predictors of the complications of leptospirosis is important in patient management. This ...
